BREDL requests Public Comment Period
Extension for BMWNC Air Monitoring Plan
March 16, 1999

Re: BMWNC
I am writing about the proposal for Mecklenburg
Department of Environmental Protection's protocol
for air monitoring in the Matthews community
surrounding the medical waste incinerator.
The deadline for public comment as I understand
it, will end on March 29, 1999. We are
formally requesting that the comment period be
extended. The time allowed does not afford
the community enough time to adequately address
the protocol. The community must depend on
outside consultants who have many other projects.
We understand that Mecklenburg is not required by
statute to allow a public comment process. We do
appreciate the opportunity however, to insure
public confidence in this proposal we trust that
you will grant this request.
Respectfully,
Denise Lee, community organizer
