as comments on the I-73 DEIS (Roanoke, VA - NC
border segment).
THANKS TO
ALL THAT SENT EMAILS OR MAILED COMMENTS ON THE
I-73 DEIS.Comment Deadline was
January 12, 2001.
Dear Mr. Earl Robb:
These are my comments concerning the Draft
Environmental Impact Statement for I-73.
I am opposed to all new-terrain options for
I-73. These include:
Option 1 & 1a: Eastern Corridor
Option 2, 2a, 2b & 2c: I-581 to Windy
Gap Mountain
Option 3, 3a, 3b & 3c: Make I-581 and
U.S. 220 an interstate
Option 4: Western Corridor |
I am opposed to all of the 11
corridors studied for a new-terrain highway
because of their significant impact on the human
environment and their tremendous cost to the
taxpayers.
I am in favor of the Transportation Systems
Mananagement option, which would upgrade U.S. 220
for millions rather than billions of dollars.
This would result in a safer road in a fraction
of the time.
Please include these with the official
comments for the I-73 DEIS. I reserve the right
to submit further comments at a later date.
Sincerely,
cc: Fred Altizer, VDOT Salem District Manager
