Air Pollution Control Devices

U.S. EPA, U.S. Justice Dept. & SCPSA March 16, 2004 settlement requires that SCPSA install and upgrade new flue gas desulfurization devices (scrubbers) for controlling SO2 & selective catalytic reduction devices for controlling NOx on Units 1, 2, 3 & 4. These controls need to be online by 2012.
(status as of June 2004)

SO2: wet mixture of limestone Scrubbers on Units 2, 3 & 4
NOx: low-NOx burners on all 4 units.
