Air Pollution Control Devices

U.S. EPA, U.S. Justice Dept. & SCPSA March 16, 2004 settlement requires that SCPSA install and upgrade flue gas desulfurization devices for controlling SO2 & selective catalytic reduction devices for controlling NOx on Units 1 & 2 and on Units 3 & 4, which are to be constructed. These controls need to be online by 2012.
(status as of June 2004)

SO2: wet mixture of limestone Scrubbers on both units.
NOx: low-NOx burners on both units.
