Dangerous source of Dioxin: The H.F. Lee permit allows CP&L to burn used oil in its coal-fired boilers. This oil may have up to 1000 parts per million of total halogens which includes chlorinated organic compounds. In addition, H.F. Lee boiler #3 may burn 10,000 gallons of insulating fluids per year containing up to 49 ppm polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
